Speaker:  Leigh Corrigan-Owens, Creative Director, Mal Warwick Donordigital

 9:45 - 10:45 amBuilding a Messaging Foundation

Speaker:  Frank O'Brien, OBrien On Message LLC

Before we turn to copywriting and design, the creative process begins with developing a sound messaging platform. Join us in this interactive session as, relying on concrete nonprofit examples, we discuss the case for engagement, organizational voice and personality, emotional tone, and other ways to build a firm foundation for individual messages.

  • Clarify your case for engagement with four essential questions.
  • Come away with ways to make your storytelling purposeful and persuasive.
  • Find ways to identify and overcome barriers to giving.

 11:00 - 11:45 amDesign First

Speaker:  Robin Perry, Vice President & Corporate Marketing, Lautman Maska Neill & Co.

Some projects are more complex (visually) than others, and in those cases, it's OK to let images and graphics be the "warp" to the "weft" of copy that weaves the narrative you want to convey to your audience. Join us for this informative session where you'll hear about how – sometimes – the process can run more smoothly if design is in the driver seat.

  • The ideal time(s) to let design drive the process of creating marketing.
  • How to develop the framework for the project in question.
  • What deliverables to provide the copywriter for a seamless process for all.

  • Learn how to craft prompts that generate stronger, more strategic fundraising copy.
  • Specific tips, tricks, hacks, and pitfalls for using nonprofit-focused AI tools as well as general LLMs like ChatCPT and Claude.
  • Get real-world examples of nonprofits successfully integrating AI into their creative workflow.
