Quiet Quitting. The Great Resignation. Employee burnout. Reimagining the workplace.
We’ve all read the headlines and heard the buzzwords. We’ve seen our colleagues move on to new opportunities, we’ve onboarded and welcomed new staff, and many of us have also changed jobs within the last four years.
Organizations across all industries are experiencing challenges with employee retention. But employee retention at nonprofit organizations is being impacted at a higher rate.
Self-proclaimed “Nonprofiteers” Evan Wildstein and Michelle Flores Vryn, CFRE launched the inaugural Social Impact Staff Retention (SISR) project in the fall of 2023, surveying more than 250 nonprofit workers across the US. This is what SISR found:
- 74% of nonprofit workers are looking for a new job compared to 65% across all industries.
- 82% of nonprofit staffers with less than 10 years’ experience are searching for new jobs.
- Only 35% of nonprofit workers expressed a strong desire to remain working in the nonprofit industry.
What is causing these concerning trends? And, more importantly, what can (and should) we do about it?
DMAW Board Member, Leadership and Organizational Coach, Katy Jordan will moderate this critical conversation with Evan and Michelle, anchored in their findings from SISR.
